## BTD – experts in R&D

From 2000 to 2003, we developed a **hybrid vehicle** in cooperation with the University of Liege. Our hybrid 3L VW Lupo aroused international interest and has been presented at several trade fairs.

Since then, we have had the opportunity to participate in various **hybrid projects** in the automotive industry (subject to confidentiality).

Objectives:

- Reduction of environmentally harmful emissions (60 gr. CO2 / km MVEG)
- Reduction of fuel consumption while maintaining the same level of performance
- Elimination of exhaust gas in urban traffic

## **Hybrid vehicles in motor sport**

We demonstrated the practical and ecological advantages of this **hybrid technology** in motor sport with our further developed version in 2007.

### BTD hybrid car in the 12-hour race at Spa Francorchamps

Hybrid technocoly in motor racing. The principle: in the pit lanes and behind the safety car, the 3L VW Lupo Hybrid stores braking energy that is later converted into driving power by an **electric** motor. The **drive system** helps to **save fuel** during slow driving (e.g. pit stops).

Our **VW Lupo Hybrid** finished 15th out of 26 vehicles in the T2 class.

This was an excellent demonstration of the efficient implementation of [alternative drive systems](/alternative-drive-systems/) in competition engines.
